The Blues are preparing to invest heavily in the summer transfer window and have already snapped up Ajax Hakim Ziyech and also on the brink of wrapping up their move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Another player Chelsea could bring to improve next season’s goalscoring threat would be Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz.
Kai Havertz has been closely linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge following the signing of Timo Werner.
They are desperate to snap up Germany international Havertz, but it has been reported that Leverkusen will want £90million for him.
However, it was reported that if Bayer Leverkusen didn’t qualify for the Champions League, the price will drop dramatically from £90m to less than £70m. A valuation which Chelsea is willing to pay for the German international.
Yesterday, Bayer Leverkusen yesterday failed to qualify for the Champions League despite a 1-0 win over Mainz as the Bundesliga season came to a close.
Kevin Volland handed the German side victory but Leverkusen had to settle for fifth place as RB Leipzig defeated Augsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach earned victory over Hertha Berlin.
That could be a transfer boost in the chase of Kai Havertz, as Chelsea will save £20m from the previous price tag Bayer Leverkusen is requesting for the midfilder.
Although he is more of a midfielder than a forward, he has mostly been deployed on the right wing, left wing and sometimes used as a striker in Bundesliga this season.
His versatility to play in several positions in advanced midfield positions, would make him a good addition to Frank Lampard’s squad next season.
The Stamford Bridge side continued their business for the upcoming window after sealing the signature of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, having already signed Hakim Ziyech long time ago. Both will join Chelsea on July 1st.
