Chelsea Latest; Lampard gives updates on Silva, Pulisic, Chilwell and Ziyech

Chelsea are in Carabao cup action tomorrow against Barnsley. The game will be played at Stamford Bridge, and manager Frank Lampard who held a press conference today ahead of the match, has given updates on a number of first team players who had been absent due to injuries.

Frank Lampard told the media that new signing Thiago Silva (who’s birthday is today) is fit, and will be part of the match day squad tomorrow when the Blues take to the pitch against Barnsley in the Carabao cup third round. He also said that Ben Chilwell is fit and will play tomorrow.

The game will however be too soon for Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech, both of whom Lampard said are closer to making a return to the team. The duo were pictured together after the team’s training at Cobham and it looks that they could make their return over the weekend.

This bodes well for Chelsea fans whose ears have been tingling to get update on the possible return dates of these players. So, a summary of Lampard’s press conference is that: Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell will make their debuts versus Barnsley tomorrow while Hakim Ziyech and Pulisic would not be available for tomorrow’s cup tie. They could be ready to play this weekend.

Chelsea have won one and lost one of their two games played this season. A win against Barnsley would help boost their confidence after that not so good display versus Liverpool. Hopefully their new players would click into gear sooner rather than later, and help the team reach its goals.
